Lowe: We are on way towards realising ambitions

-

PLYMOUTH Argyle manager Ryan Lowe is enjoying the feeling of being on top of League One and says the Championship is the big aim for the club,.

“It feels good, whether it’s for a short time or a long time – a month, a week, two weeks, whatever it is,” said Lowe, whose side are unbeaten in 11 League games since the first day of the season after beating Burton Albion 2-1.

“We are up there for a reason because we deserve to be there. We are winning games and it means a lot to the club.

“You hear them (the fans) singing ‘We are Plymouth Argyle, we are on our way back’, well, we are on our way back to being a sustainable Championship club.

“That’s the ambition and that’s why I have come here, to do that with the chairman (Simon Hallett), the directors, the players and fans.

“But we can’t get too carried away. We are top of the league for the time being. We have just got to keep working hard, keep doing the right things.”

Argyle threatened to overrun the Brewers in the first half and established a 2-0 lead.

“I thought the first half performance was fantastic,” said Lowe.

“Everything we asked of the lads they did. The second half was always going to be tougher.

“Burton came out and changed shape.

“They put a bit of pressure on us at times and we felt we could have dealt with their goal, but I’m pleased.

“I think everyone was excited, and so they should be. They can go and enjoy the moment but we are not going to get too carried away.

“There are teams with games to catch up on and that’s fine. All we can do is worry about ourselves.

“It’s where you are at the end of the season. So we will enjoy this moment and just keep working hard and moving on.

“We are enjoying playing good football, we are enjoying the moment. There won’t be pressure from me on my players.

“There is a lot more pressure on other teams.

“They should actually be where we are but I don’t look at pressure that way.

“We are playing good football, we have a great club, a great fan base, well supported and we will continue to do what we need to do.”
