Burton Kia car is a big hit for ex-boxer Nigel
A BURTON car dealership has sponsored a boxing legend as he tours the UK with his former rival to talk about his career.
Burton Kia has sponsored the Kia Sportage for Nigel Benn as he tours the UK with Chris Eubank to talk about their explosive matches in the ring and share their stories live on stage.
Benn will be doing it in style with his Kia car as he spends time in the UK from his home in Australia.
A spokesman for Burton Kia said: “We’re proud to announce that the Ex-pro Boxer Nigel Benn has a sponsored car from Burton Kia until January while he completes his UK tour with Chris Eubank.
“Don’t miss Benn vs Eubank touring the UK throughout October, November and December.”
The British middleweight fighters are in the middle of the 20-date tour. It is called The Trilogy Tour and will end more than 30 years of bitterness and acrimony between two of the world’s biggest boxing rivals.
Live on stage, they reveal the truth behind the fierce rivalry of their duels in the ring and their subsequent lives and careers.
Eubank, who was undefeated at the time, beat Benn in 1990 to win the WBO middleweight title thanks to a round nine technical knockout. The fight is considered one of the best bouts in boxing history, and was described by Boxing News as the greatest ever fight to take place on British soil.
A rematch n 1993 ended in a draw, with Eubank retaining his WBO super-middleweight title that he won against Michael Watson.
Both fighters made headline news in and out of the ring for the open rivalry and genuine hatred for each other, both swearing they would knock the other man out. The hostility and competitiveness has never really gone away, but now there is a chance for fans to hear what is was really like from the two protagonists.
