Reflective tags to ensure pupils stay safe during winter

A HOMEBUILDER has given an East Staffordshire school reflective tags for its pupils to wear while walking to and from school, ensuring they can be easily seen on the roads as the darker nights draw in.

The move by David Wilson Homes, which will benefit children at Tynsel Parkes CE Primary Academy in Uttoxeter, comes with the focus on reducing accidents in

Road Safety Week.

Rachel Chandler, principal at the school, said: “Our children were thrilled to receive their high-vis bag tags. They understand the importance of keeping themselves safe and were keen to wear them while walking home. Thanks to David Wilson Homes for providing them.”

Tynsel Parkes CE Primary Academy is located near the homebuilder’s Olive Park development in Stafford Road, and the donation of hi-vis bag tags is another part of the company’s outreach to the community.

In what’s been a challenging time for schools across the country as a result of the pandemic, the developer says it is as committed as ever to providing support during Road Safety Week and beyond.

Dominic Harman, managing director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: “We want to ensure the pupils in the local communities remain visible now the darker nights are here, and our donation has hopefully still encouraged them to safely practise Road Safety Week. “This is a campaign we actively support each year as we endeavour to help local school children in their efforts to commute on foot, and the tags have proven to be both effective and practical.

“As a result of the Covid-19 crisis, it’s even more important for us to support the local schools in and around the communities we build, so we’re thrilled to have had the chance to support Tynsel Parkes CE Primary Academy during Road Safety Week.”

David Wilson Homes says its hi-vis bag tags have been particularly useful during Road Safety Week, adding they are certain to benefit the Uttoxeter pupils in their journeys to school throughout the winter months.
