Oliver and Olivia top standings for Burton
OLIVER Frost and Olivia Standley led the way at Burton ASC’S annual championships.
The event was held over three nights and 12 club championship records were broken.
Oliver was the top boy swimmer with seven wins and he broke the 13-14 age 100m backstroke record, which had stood for over 10 years, while Olivia was top girl with six victories.
Joint second in the boys’ trophy table with three wins were William Hughes, George Greener, Edward Frost and Daniel Spiers.
George broke the club’s open 100m breaststroke and 200m individual medley records.
Joint second with five wins in the girls’ standings were Georgia Ulyett and Sophie Fowkes.
Sophie also broke a club records that had stood for over 10 years when she won the the open age 200m IM, 100m backstroke, 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle.
Matt Gates broke the club’s open 100m freestyle and 100m IM records, while Jack Ward set new benchmarks in the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle open.
Thomas Wyke broke the club’s masters record in the freestyle.
The top six in each age event will get a medal at the presentation evening, which is scheduled for January, while winners’ names will be engraved on trophies that go back generations in the club’s 143-year history.
There were personal best times in over 85% of the races, while quailfying times for the county championships were achieved in around 60 events. So far the club has 25 swimmers who have qualified for the Staffordshire County Championships. ■■GIRLS RESULTS:
Age 8 – Ellie Wan won freestyle and backstrok, Thea Clamp won breaststroke.
Age 9 – Isabelle Fisher won butterfly, Olive Harvey won freestyle and breaststroke, Esmee Fisher won backstroke.
Age 10 – Rebecca Pardoe won freestyle, butterfly and backstroke, Madeleine Smith won breaststroke.
Age 11/12 – Olivia Standley won 200IM, all 4 strokes over 50m and 100m IM, Isabella Reid won 200m freestyle.
Age 13/14 – Georgia Ulyett won five events with Issy Mills taking the 200m and 100m freestyle events.
Open – Sophie Fowkes won five events with Ella Cooper taking 100m freestyle and breaststroke.

Age 9 – Charlie Dyche won breaststroke and backstroke, with Saif-uddin Mahmood taking freestyle and butterfly.
Age 10 –Edward Williams won butterfly and backstroke, Oliver Newton won freestyle, Jack Thomas won breaststroke.
Age 11/12 – Daniel Spiers won 200m freestyle, breaststroke, Edward Frost won backstroke, 100m IM and butterfly.
Age 13/14 – Oliver Frost won all seven events including many county times
