Where cases are rising in Burton and surrounding areas

-

POSTCODES where the number of coronavirus cases has risen over a sevenday period have been revealed.

The latest figures, released by Public Health England, found that areas across East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire saw a rise in Covid cases in the seven days to December 9.

Barton under Needwood saw the biggest increase in cases with a rise of 121.7 per cent. It recorded 51 cases, a rise of 28 and a rate of 856.3.

This was followed by Rolleston and Tutbury with 79 new cases and a rate of 806.3. It comes after MPS voted on Tuesday night to accept the ‘Plan B’ rules for mandatory Covid passes for entry to nightclubs and large venues in England.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson moved to introduce new measures after the new Covid variant Omicron was found to be spreading rapidly. The measures were passed despite a rebellion by a large number of Conservative MPS who opposed Mr Johnson’s plans. The support of Labour MPS ensured they went through.
