Actor helps band shoot new music video in Swad
A STAR of This is England lent his skills as a director to a Burton band whose new music video was shot in Swadlincote and Midway.
Thee Deadtime Philharmonic employed the services of Michael Socha and Adaptive Media to shoot its new music video Hardlines which is out now.
Proceeds from the single will be donated to Swadlincote’s Bank House mental heath charity.
The video cast people from Burton and South Derbyshire following an open audition call that set out to cast non-actors and friends of the band alongside established actors including This Is England and A Room for Romeo Brass star Andrew Shim.
It also features a snapshot at St George and St Mary’s Church, in Church Gresley.
Hardlines is described as a snapshot of post-lockdown life in lowerworking-class, ex-industrial smalltown Britain, with singer- songwriter Wayne Murdoch documenting poverty, class, knife crime and a privatised prison system with a message of resilience and hope.
It is the longawaited follow-up to their 2018 critically acclaimed album Estate of the Heart.
As well as vocals, Murdoch is on guitars, samples, and decks; Kerry Ann provides vocals, synth, and percussion; Richard
Castle is on guitar; Mark Knowles on bass; and Lee Shaw on drums and percussion. Deadtime continue to receive outstanding reviews for their high-octane, emotive live shows.
International and national radio airplay for the band has come courtesy of Don Letts, Jarvis Cocker and Tom Robinson (BBC Introducing/bbc6) to name a few.
Deadtime have also appeared on Channel 4 (Strummerville Sessions) and Going Underground (Russia Today). Michael Socha (This is England/being Human) also appeared in their video for previous single Bad Lad.
The single is available to buy on all the major online sites.
