Brewery memorabilia wows visitors to shop

A COUPLE who run a new antiques shop in Swadlincote have been blown away with how busy their first month in business has been and have thanked people for their support.

Noble Robin Salvages opened in Alexandra Road at the end of November and owners Holly Wright and Joe Wilkinson have been rushed off their feet ever since as they attempt to keep up with demand.

Collectors of brewing, petrol cans and car memorabilia, as well as old signs, have been particularly enthusiastic and have already become regulars at the store.

Jack Russell puppy Mabel has also been busy welcoming customers to the store and checking out the new stock, said Holly.

She said: “It’s been a busy first few weeks. We’ve sold a lot of stock and every day we’re having to restock with the bigger items and small knick knacks.

“Our main customers are into automobilia and petronalia. Brewing memorabilia is also popular as they want local pieces. It’s hard to find but there is some and we are finding the market to what people want. We do have a bit of the general public in as well buying the everyday things.

“The hardest part has been getting people from the High Street to walk up to us, with the cold weather I don’t think they want to. We’ve definitely had a market for oil and petrol cans. A lot of people have said how nice the shop is. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback.”

The couple, from Hartshorne, both have a history and passion for antiques that was passed down to them from their grandparents.

They pick up the unique stock from auctions, antique fairs, house clearances and other traders in the business that they know around the country.

This means that the stock is changing constantly as Joe puts the miles on the clock travelling across the country to pick up different items.

Holly added: “I would like to thank everyone for all of their support and positive feedback. We will continue to search for the items requested and bringing something different to Swadlincote. “I don’t think we thought it would be quite as popular as it is in the local area as we didn’t realise how many collectors there are. We’ve had a lot of customers wanting house clearances so we’ve done quite a few of them over the last couple of weeks. People have also been bringing in stuff that they want us to buy. If there is anything people are wanting to get rid or sell they can come to see us. If there are shed, lofts or garage clearances we can do that. We’re always on the lookout for unique and antique finds, especially local pieces. We would like to thank people for their continued custom as we’re getting regulars coming in. Online sales have also been really good and we’ve got quite a following

“We’ve also had a lot of support from other companies, especially on Alexandra Road, and we would like to thank them. They’ve been sharing our posts and encouraging people to come and see us.

“We’re hoping to be coming to some vintage fairs in the area as well to get our name out there.”

Noble Robin Salvages is open from 9am to 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

I don’t think we thought it would be quite as popular as it is in the local area.
