LATEST RULES FOR TRAVELLING

-

TRAVELLING FROM THE UK

Passengers should check the FCO website to find requirements for arrivals in individual countries.

These can change quickly so passengers should check regularly to ensure they are not caught out by new rules.

Covid passes (or vaccine passports) issued in the UK can be used throughout the European Union, provided it is from on or after November 1, 2021.

COMING BACK TO THE UK

Pre-departure tests are now not needed for passengers who have had two or more doses and under-18s.

However, within two days of arrival, everyone aged five and over must take either a lateral flow test (LFT) or a PCR test, which must be bought from a private provider – NHS tests are not sufficient.

A positive LFT result must be confirmed by an NHS PCR test, and passengers must self-isolate.

Vaccinated passengers must also fill in an submit an online passenger locator form within two days of arrival, even if you are just passing through the UK.

Unvaccinated travellers (those who have had one or no vaccine doses) arriving in or returning to the UK must complete a passenger locator form, and take an LFT or PCR in the 48 hours before departure.

This can be done in the departure country, or a country where you change flights or visit en-route to the UK.

Anyone who tests positive must stay where they are and follow the rules in that country, rather than travel onwards to the UK.

Once you do return to the UK, you must quarantine for 10 days and take two PCR tests, on day two and day eight of quarantine, which must be privately booked prior to arriving in the UK.

Travellers to England also have the option of ending quarantine under the Test To Release scheme – this involves taking a private PCR test after five days of isolation.

A negative test will allow them to leave quarantine, although they must still take another PCR test on day eight.
