We know it is great for babies but there are added benefits for mums. Researchers at the Medical University of Innsbruck in Innsbruck, Austria found women who breastfeed are less likely to develop heart disease or suffer a stroke later in life.

Its stores saw the strongest trade in grocery sales in the Christmas quarter. Market research group Nielseniq estimated the chain’s grocery sales grew 9.4% versus last year. In second place was Lidl, up 8.5%, followed by Aldi, up 4.8%.

Morrisons is scrapping the phrase from its labels. From the end of the month, the supermarket chain will instead put ‘best before’ dates on 90% of its own-brand milk and encourage customers to use a ‘sniff test’ to check quality in an attempt to reduce food waste.

The retailer is to close 15 stores this year. The firm said the stores affected will close as leases end and favourable terms cannot be agreed, adding it will not affect its new openings or stores relocation programme.
