Expect delays in roadworks next week

PEOPLE travelling in and around Burton next week will need to plan ahead due to new significan­t roadworks that could slow them down.

The latest set of roadworks will run from Monday, June 6 to Friday, June 10. Some of the works will include temporary traffic lights or some form of traffic control.

Staffordsh­ire County Council will be working on Station Street in Burton from Monday, June 6, and is set to last for 30 weeks to carry out works installing the new cycle lanes. The road will be closed and a temporary one-way diversion route has been put in place.

The authority will also be working on Bladon View in the town from Monday to Tuesday, June 17, for signing, lighting and guarding training. Delays are likely as a two-way traffic control system will be in place.

The council will also be working in Henhurst Hill from Monday to Friday, June 10, to carry out drainage works. A two-way traffic control system will be in place, with delays likely.

Staffordsh­ire County Council will be working in Dovecliff Road from Monday, to Friday, June 10, to carry out drainage works. A two-way traffic control system will be in place, with delays likely.

The authority is also working on St Peter’s Bridge on Thursday, June 9, carrying out highway bollard repairs. Delays are likely as a two-way traffic control system will be in place on this busy main route in and out of Burton.

The council is continuing to work on Saxon Street until June 29, to carry out upgrades to the junction at the end of the road by Stanton Road. A diversion route will be in operation, with delays likely as the road will be closed.

Cadent’s gas works in Guild Street, Station Street and Union Street are set to last until November. Traffic control systems will be in place with multi-way temporary traffic lights in operation. Delays highly likely on the busy town centre roads, said a spokesman.

Gas Transforma­tion Company Limited will continue its work on Harehedge Lane until the end of July 22. A multi-way traffic control system will be in place, with delays again likely.

Western Power Distributi­on will also continue work on Hevea Road, Balfour Street and Horninglow Road North, which is set to last until the end of the month. Traffic controls are likely to cause delays, as multi-way signals are in place.

Virgin Media is carrying out work on Ashby Road, from Monday until the end of the month, with a two-way traffic control system in place, with delays likely.
