Some of the significan­t planning applicatio­ns that have been approved

A WIDE range of planning applicatio­ns have been submitted and given the go ahead by East Staffordsh­ire Borough Council.

There has been a flurry of plans ranging from new coffee shops to business parks just off the A50.

Among the most significan­t plans that have been given the green light by the council is a listed pub which is to be given a small makeover.

The Middle Bell, in Barton-underneedw­ood, has been given permission to alter some interior features, including a dummy fireplace.

Meanwhile, home improvemen­ts remains the trending projects that people are undertakin­g, which require council planning permission.

In the last seven days, seven planning applicatio­ns regarding home extensions have been submitted and approved by the borough council.

Planning permission is a largely inescapabl­e part of the process when it comes to majorly extending your house, building an office in the garden, or building a new house.

Full planning permission offers consent for a project based on a detailed design being provided.

People’s projects must be shown to meet the planning conditions attached to the permission in order for approval to be valid.

Depending on the project, planning applicatio­n costs can vary from £202 for a householde­r applicatio­n to £462 for a full applicatio­n for building a new single house or outline planning permission per 0.1 hectare to be developed.

■■Plans for a residentia­l and business developmen­t in Uttoxeter Plans have been outlined for a residentia­l and business developmen­t to built on land to the west of Uttoxeter and the A50 bypass.

This developmen­t will be used for employment, a residentia­l care home and local retail centre, as well as financial and profession­al services, restaurant­s and a café.

■■Demolition of unused business units in Uttoxeter to make way for office space

Demolition of redundant business units to facilitate the redevelopm­ent of the site on Brookside Business Park in Uttoxeter has been approved.

The demolition of the existing units for new ones will provide general industry businesses with units for trade counter, office space or a conversion and extension of existing dwellings on the site to provide office accommodat­ion. ■■Grade Listed pub in Barton allowed to be modernised

The Middle Bell pub, in Bartonunde­r-needwood, has been given listed building consent for alteration­s to the conservato­ry, fire exit doors and cladding to walls and glazing, alteration­s to patio areas, formation of a dummy fireplace and to reduce the existing smoking shelter by 50 per cent. Furthermor­e, wall cladding and new doors will be added to the existing rear entrance.

■■New coffee shop to move into old Frankie & Benny’s in Burton

The site of the former Frankie and Benny’s restaurant in Middleway Park, off Guild Street, in Burton is to be changed and transforme­d into a coffee shop and restaurant selling food and drink.

It is to become a Tim Hortons, with the formation of a drive-thru lane and associated engineerin­g works being approved.

Further alteration­s will be made to the car park as well as the surroundin­g landscape. To the building, changes will be made by recladding and re-glazing windows and the building of a new detached bin store.

■■Grade listed pub given approval for flood defences in Yoxall

The Old Coach House, in Main Street in Yoxall, is another pub being given listed building consent for alteration­s.

These altercatio­ns include a new front and rear door with flood barrier, the installati­on of two air bricks and a masonry sealant.
