Apocalypse ... not now!

-

IMAGINE Groundhog Day but with the looming threat of global extinction and no cute animal guessing the weather.

Paapa Essiedu plays George, who wakes up one day and finds himself reliving a day from months ago.

Of course he thinks he’s lost his mind, especially since he seems to be the only one who has noticed what’s happened.

At the beginning he marries the love of his life Sarah (Charly Clive), she finds out she’s pregnant and everything is going well at work.

Then the pandemic strikes and Sarah is coughing.

“George, do you think we’re going to die?” she asks in the hospital.

A flash and he wakes up in bed. It’s the same day from three months ago, except all his recent milestones have been undone, including work success and his marriage.

“I’m having a strange day,” he says. “Everything was really good. I think something’s wrong.”

He then meets Archie (Anjli Mohindra), who recruits George for the Lazarus Project – a secret organisation that has harnessed the ability to turn back time every time the world is under threat of extinction.

Like George, those who work at Lazarus are the few people on earth with the ability to remember the events that are undone when time goes back.

Alongside Archie, standoffish Shiv (Rudi Dharmalingam), and steely leader Wes (Caroline Quentin), George works to prevent global catastrophe – including trying to track down the formidable Rebrov (Tom Burke), a criminal intent on detonating a nuclear warhead and destroying the world.

It’s a gripping, apocalyptic drama.
