‘Bring the family down!’ Pub is open again with big ideas
INN’S NEW LANDLORD HAS PLANS TO REORIENTATE VENUE
A Well-known pub in Burton has reopened after being closed for the best part of a year.
The new landlord at the Grange Inn in Casey Lane is from the town and knows the pub well, and has big plans.
The pub shut in September, after its long-standing managers revealed they were moving on to find larger premises. It remained empty while specialist pub estate agent Sidney Philips marketed the property for sale for £425,000.
It has now been taken on by Rahsaan Daji.
He said he wants to make the pub a popular venue that appeals to families.
The 23-year-old said: “I feel great that we are opening back up.
“There are aspects about the pub we know we have to change.
“We are definitely wanting to reorientate the pub to be more familyfriendly.
“That is the main part of the plans.
“We are going to have a sit down in the next few weeks to properly discuss what we are going to do but for the moment, that is our main goal.
“Our first step is to build a business so we want people to come on down.” Rahsaan has lived in Burton for more than 20 years and remembers visiting the pub. He said: “I am originally from Birmingham but we moved here in 2000.
“I have lived on Shobnall Street ever since and I remember the pub well.
“With the pub, we definitely want to give it more of a family feel. There are two rooms, a big room and a small room, plus a beer garden.
“The plan at the moment is to have the big room to be the normal pub room where people can meet and have a drink with their friends.
“We want the back room to be the family room.
“Here, we will fill it with board games and colouring so families can visit, have a drink and see their friends with their children.
“We’re really excited to get going and bring new life into this classic pub.”
