Cofis’ Williams and Craig land league awards
CAERNARFON Town rounded off a season to remember with well-deserved recognition by the league they dominated.
Last Sunday’s Huws Gray Alliance AGM saw Iwan Williams named Manager of the Season and Nathan Craig receive the Player of the Season award.
Williams’ first season in charge of the Canaries delivered both the league championship and Huws Gray Cup double.
Former Everton professional Craig was outstanding throughout the campaign, providing numerous goals and assists.
Meanwhile, Town will begin their defence of the Huws Gray Cup away to Caersws.
In the Word Cup, in which the Canaries knocked out Welsh Premier sides Bangor City and Bala Town last season, Williams’ men will host Rhyl in the opening stage this time around.
Caernarfon will be holding a trial match for those interested in joining their new reserve side for the 2016/17 season at Treborth Playing Fields in Bangor on Wednesday, June 22, between 7pm and 8.30pm.
Williams said: “This will be an opportunity for anyone who has an interest to come and play for the club to showcase their potential.
“The reserves will be training with the first team next season so prior to the game I will be holding a taster session so players get a feel of what to expect should they be recruited.
“I will be present at every reserve game to track the development of these players and if they’re good enough and show commitment they will get their opportunities.
“We will have graduates from the academy stepping up into the reserves but we also want to extend into the wider Caernarfon community and give talented local players confidence in the fact we’re serious about the development of this team.
“They will then be invited to the player presentation at the ground on Tuesday, June 28, where we will discuss our playing philosophy, aims, objectives and targets for both sides for the forthcoming season. Pre-season begins on Thursday, June 30.”
