Go-ahead given for caravan site build

-

A massive expansion to a caravan park near the Llyn peninsula has been approved.

Owners of Fferm Porthdinllaen at Morfa Nefyn want to boost the number of touring units from 36 to 60, create 61 hard-standings and a new play area.

Other work includes a new toilet block and one siting one touring caravan for the manager of the site.

The site is situated on the outskirts of Morfa Nefyn and is a well-established touring cara- van and camping park.

At Gwynedd Council’s planning committee meeting on Monday the ambitious plans were unanimously approved.

The application was deferred in April so changes could be made to please Gwynedd Council officers.

The plans were also approved by Nefyn town council.

Planning officer Idwal Williams said: “Although it remains large in terms of size we believe on the whole that the amended size of the amenities block is an improvement to the original plan and we recommend approval.”

According to the applicants the proposal will “create consid- erable economic benefits for the wider local economy” and claimed the expansion would make the site “contribute an additional £177,408 into the local economy”.

They continued: “Overall the proposal will allow for improvements in the standard of the park, which will improve its operation and quality of the visitor experience.”

Councillor Sian Wyn Hughes spoke at the meeting.

She said: “Following the meeting on April 25 where it was deferred, I accept the recommendation in the report.

“Pleased officers and applicants have been able to compromise on the plans.

“This is a very attractive building so the applicant have reduced the height of the roof and I am very pleased to see they can keep hold of the roof material, slate, which is in keeping with other facilities.”

Natural Resources Wales have not given their feedback on the plans yet.

It is not known when the work will start.
