New bosses named at Amateurs

-

BLAENAU Amateurs FC have announced that following the resignation of playermanager Julien Jeffery the new joint bosses will be Ceri Roberts and Doug Hughes.

Reserves player-manager Gavin Lewis has also stepped down.

If a suitable replacement cannot be found the club will operate with just the one side next season.

This was confirmed at the club’s AGM where chairman Andrew Roberts thanked president Mici Plum, the former managers, players, officials, groundsman, sponsors and all who had supported the club over the past season.

A financial report by treasurer Ritchie Davey showed the club has money in the bank but needs more income to help with ever-increasing running costs.

Mr Davey revealed the total paid out to match officials last season was £2,201.50 and without the weekly tote, sponsors and kind donations there would be no soccer in Blaenau.

The club has applied for grants and other outlets to undertake work at Cae Clyd.

With chairman Roberts stepping down, although he stays on the committee, the club is expected to announce his successor in the coming weeks.

Other officials: president – Mici Plum; secretary – Dafydd Hughes; assistant-sec – John Campbell; treasurer – Ritchie Davey; assistant-treasurer – Meirion Ellis; junior sides sec and treasurer – Heulwen Evans.

The Under-16s will be managed by Michael Hughes with Mel Roberts and Elfyn Jones running the U-14s and Meilir Jones the U-8s.

The club is seeking someone to take over the U-12s, 10s and 6s sides.

The next meeting of the club will be at Ty Gorsaf on July 7.
