YOUTH CLUB: Bontnewydd Youth Club has now re-opened for another year and the leaders, John and Fflur offer a warm welcome to the young people of Bontnewydd and the surrounding villages to participate in the club’s activities. The club is open every Tuesday and Thursday, 7-9pm, to students from Year Seven upwards. Activities scheduled this year include trips out of the club for Ice skating, Indoor Climbing, Ten pin bowling, visits to the cinema. There will also be a range of activities within the club including pool, table tennis, cookery, boxing punch bag and game consoles. An annual event for people experiencing mental health issues and those supporting them, on Thursday October 20 at the Brailsford Leisure Centre, Bangor. Multi agency initiative to raise awareness of mental health issues with an emphasis on the benefits of being active and having fun on mental wellbeing. Motiv8 will give people the opportunity to take part in taster sessions in basketball, archery, pool, gym exercise, tai chi, dance, and climbing. Local and national services will be on hand to offer advice, guidance and support. The #Awalkinmyshoes sponsored walk on Saturday August 13 begins at Caernarfon Castle before following a circular route along The Welsh Highland railway path to Dinas, and finishing back at Caernarfon. Back and side gardens, where visible will also be judged. The competition will include public houses, B & Bs, hotels, cafes and restaurants and will be co sponsored by Fron Goch Garden Centre. Trophies, prizes and certificates will be presented by the Mayor at a ceremony in the Institute Building in the autumn.
