Arfon Ladies in top position as title race thrills

ARFON Ladies head Division One of the Gwynedd and Anglesey Netball League after thrashing Walis 34-9 last Wednesday.

Arfon are four points ahead of reigning champions Menai Bridge, but have played a game more.

Player of the Match: Arfon – Kirsty Lloyd; Walis – Catrin Meirion.

Menai Bridge eventually proved too strong for Holyhead, recording a 38-27 victory.

Holyhead won the first quarter 9-5 and led 14-13 at half time, but Menai bossed the last two sessions, taking them 10-5 and 15-8.

Menai Thunder were beaten 19-11 by Penygroes Piws.

Pwllheli defeated Primos 27-21 in a thriller.

Primos edged the opener 7-6, but by the midway stage Pwll were 16-13 in front. Pwllheli sealed it by winning the last 7-4. PoM: Pwllheli – Sian Rosewarne; Primos – Manon Thomas.

Pwllheli Subway Warriors lead the way in Division Two after caning bottom side Porthmadog 39-8 in a one-sided Llŷn Peninsula derby.

Pwll scored nine, eight, 11 and 11 over four quarters.

Arfon Celts were always in control as they saw off Red Sox 23-9.

WildCats were in ruthless form in a 22-8 demolition of Valley Vixens.
