Osian battled brain tumour for 10 passes

-

A TEENAGER who was fighting a brain tumour less than three weeks after starting his GCSEs was thrilled to get stellar results.

Osian Jones, 16, had a major operation to remove a tennis ballsized brain tumour after enduring weeks of headaches and migraines.

Three weeks later the teenager started sitting exams at his school Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen in Caernarfon, for his GCSEs.

Yesterday morning he was one of thousands of teenagers across North Wales who opened their results.

He achieved three A*s, two As and five Bs.

He’s now going to study maths, physics and chemistry.

Dad Ian Jones said: “We’re very proud of him, particularly based on the circumstances he was in during his exams.

“He has done fantastically well thinking about what he went through.

“The family are full of admiration for him.

“I know he’s very relieved to get the results he did, he was anxious he might have to start his A Levels with loads of re-sits.”

Osian will have an MRI in October to make sure the tumour does not return.

Mum Rhian Parry-Jones said: “We’re all just gushing with pride for him.”

The 16-year-old had suffered weeks of headaches, which doctors put down to the stress of upcoming exams.

But Osian and his family were then given the devastating news he had a tumour growing on his brain.

Due to the severity of the tumour, Osian was rushed to the top of the queue and was operated upon immediately.
