Parry returns in style

-

SION PARRY marked his return to Llanystumdwy with a double in a 2-2 draw at newly-promoted Gwynedd League side Bro Goronwy last Saturday.

While Parry took centre stage, there was also an outstanding display from Llan glovesman Caron Hughes.

In the early exchanges, the lively Parry flashed an effort across the face of goal, while Hughes twice denied Andy Williams.

On the half-hour the visitors took the lead, Parry dancing past defenders before slotting into the corner of the net.

Two goals in less than five minutes before the break from Williams and Chris Hough gave Bro a 2-1 interval advantage.

Into the second period, Williams was foiled by a magnificent Hughes save and Goronwy’s Sam Regan rattled the bar from 25 yards.

However, on 68 minutes ‘Stumdwy were awarded a chance from the penalty spot after Connor Jones handled, leaving Parry to slot home the leveller.

Late on both sides went close to winning it. Callum Evison dinked the ball over Bro glovesman Jonny Hawkes on the break only to find the woodwork.

Then in the last minute, Llan’s player-manager Richard Evans’ goalbound header was nodded off the goal-line by Gareth Owen.

Bontnewydd hammered Bethesda Athletic 9-2 last Saturday.

Jonathan Peris-Jones scooped a hat-trick, Aled Steele added a double and there was one apiece from Dan Evans, Terry Watkinson, Andrew Williams and Morgan Roberts.

Darren Parry and Craig Stewart both struck twice in Harlech Town’s impressive 5-2 home victory against Aberffraw, Emlyn Jennings with the other.

Dylan Sion Jones picked up a treble as Nefyn United battered Beaumaris Town 7-2, Ifan Jones poaching a pair, Gareth Williams and Llion Jones with singles.

Waunfawr gave leaders Bodedern Athletic their toughest test yet, but still lost 2-1 to the Anglesey side, who made it five wins out of five, Adam Jones striking for the Beganifs.

Midweek action saw Rhys Jones bag a hat-trick for Talysarn Celts in a 4-2 beating of Harlech Town, David Jones adding another for the hosts, George Sutherns and Craig Stewart having put the visitors two-up.

Waunfawr hammered Beaumaris Town 5-0, Sion Roberts and Adam Jones with two each, Rhodri Owen grabbing one.

Matty Reynolds notched a double in Aberffraw’s 6-0 tanning of Bethesda Athletic, Gary Bolton, Gareth Hughes, Richard Roberts and an own goal making up the rest.

A Ceirion Jones hat-trick helped Llanystumdwy pummel Blaenau Amateurs Reserves 7-0, Tom Williams, Iwan Richards and Guto Gwenallt (2) with the remainder.

It ended 4-4 between Nefyn United and Bontnewydd.

Llion Jones, Iwan Roberts, Ifan Jones and Jac Allinson recorded the Penwaig’s haul, Rhys Roberts, Darren Phillips, Gavin Jennings and Aaron Parry for the away side.
