Conwy Valley festival offer free tickets for helpers and half price for punters

-

RESCUERS who helped pull out vehicles trapped in the flooded Festival No 6 car park have been offered free tickets for a new music event.

Farmers used tractors and 4x4s to drag out thousands of cars stranded at the festival’s park and ride site in Porthmadog which was hit by heavy rain and high winds earlier this month.

To thank them, organisers of Gorjys Secrets at Caer Rhun Hall in the Conwy Valley are offering free tickets to those who helped. Half-price tickets are available to those caught up in the bad weather at the Portmeirion event.

Tansy Rogerson, one of the four organisers of Gorjys Secrets Festival, had her own car pulled out at Festival No 6 after it had been stuck for two days.

“Although my car was stuck fast in the mud I was fortunate and was able to get home thanks to a lift, but I really felt for those music fans caught up in the situation, “she said.

“I was amazed by the spirit of everybody who helped out and tried to rescue the vehicles from the car park or lent a hand at the leisure centre.

“Festival No 6 is a great event and I’m sure they are mortified by what happened and will put it right next year. ”

Tansy wants to contact and thank the farmer and his girlfriend who rescued her from the car park which was hit by three inches of rain.

She added: “It would be amazing if the farmer and his girlfriend that rescued me got in touch as I never got the chance to get their names and say thank you again.

“We wanted to do something immediately to keep in people’s mind what a great place North Wales is to see and enjoy live music, and to also say thank you to all those unsung heroes.”

The line-up for Saturday’s Gorjys Secrets, which kicks of at 9am, includes Mercury Prize nominated Seth Lakeman, world beat-box champion Bellatrix and BBC Radio One DJ Dave Pearce.

Anyone wishing to attend who also went to Festival No 6 can use the code Fest No650 when booking at gorjys.com to receive half-price tickets. You will need to show evidence of attendance at the gate, such as a Festival No 6 ticket, booking confirmation or wrist band.

For the free tickets, rescuers are asked to call the ticket hotline 01492 338600 to explain about their role in the rescue and then their tickets will be issued.
