Cofis storm to victory

-

CAERNARFON will aim to build on last weekend’s superb 44-12 victory at Llandudno when they visit Ruthin this Saturday.

Last weekend’s success at Maesdu Road saw the Cofis’ young No10 Guto Pierce produce a man-of-the-match performance.

Pierce landed five conversions out of five and all three penalties he attempted for a personal tally of 19 points in a perfect kicking display.

Caernarfon struck first with captain Iolo Huws crossing under the posts and Pierce converting, and he added a penalty soon after.

Rhys Evans scored the next try following some good interplay between backs and forwards with the No8 going over under the posts, Pierce adding the extras.

Close to half time the home side scored next following a driving maul, Bobby Lee Davies being awarded the try, making the interval score 17-5.

The second half saw the Cofis taking control of the proceedings, breaking through the home defence on numerous occasions and scoring three more tries.

Huws notched his second followed by a brace from Carwyn Roberts, with Pierce converting all three and adding two more penalties.

In between, Llandudno did score another try through Dave Davies, converted by Ryan Pike.

Rampant Caernarfon made it two successive wins in the Premier League, scoring 10 tries in the process.

The scoreline was 22-0 at the end of the first half, winger Tawny Travis, stand-off Sera Bailey, No8 Nicky Crawford and Rachel Taylor scoring the tries, Beth Davies with one conversion.

Iona Evans had a try disallowed before landing a legitimate score 10 minutes later after good work from second row Teleri Wyn.

Wales captain Taylor added two more tries for her hattrick, Bailey and Yazmin Leung adding the extras for 41-0.

Taylor went over again, then Jenny Davies got in on the act before the best-worked team try saw replacement winger Rhian Pritchard ground for the final score.
