AN exclusive holiday park’s bid to revamp its spa and leisure building has been given the go-ahead.

The Warren, next to the beach in Abersoch, plans to extend the spa with new treatment rooms, a sauna, indoor health pool and eatery providing healthy food and drinks.

Park owner Haulfryn said it wants to improve the quality and range of facilities on the park.

Now the plans for the spa have been approved by members of Gwynedd Council’s planning committee.

Jeremy Lambe, of Lambe Planning and Design, acting on behalf of Haulfryn, said: “The purpose of the application is to provide a new and improved facility that can be utilised not just in the main holiday season, but also during the out of season “shoulder months”.

“The upgraded and new facility will encourage visitor spending in the area and reinforce existing local employment, creating 17 new jobs – five full time and 12 part time.”

Work is expected to start immediately, with the facilities opening by the early next summer.

Abersoch councillor Robert Hywel Wyn Williams welcomed the plans saying they would provide an “excellent resource for the area”.

There are plans to expand the park’s indoor pool and allow it to be opened up to merge with the outdoor pool area. This involves upgrading the existing outdoor pool area and water flumes, with a water splash zone for children and swimming lanes for adults, while the spa will be extended with new treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, and indoor health pool.

The Warren – where a lodge can set you back more than £600,000 – already enjoys a reputation as one of the most exclusive holiday parks in Wales. A “CONTROLLING sexual predator” who vowed to turn a young girl into a singing star subjected to her to a horrific rape ordeal.

Kevin Paul Roscoe had groomed his victim, luring her to a recording studio with promises of fame and fortune.

But once there he repeatedly raped her, and when she pleaded with him to stop he called her “f***ing stupid” and even complained she’d ruined the experience for him.

The 59-year-old still refused to accept his guilt as he was jailed for 10 years on Thursday, shouting from the dock that “it didn’t happen”.

Judge Philip Harris-Jenkins told him he had abused the girl’s trust, and his pursuit of her leading up to the attack had been relentless.

The court heard on one occasion he’d forced her to commit sex acts with her best friend while he watched. “You used your control over her to do as you wanted,” the judge said.

Roscoe, of Ceunant Street, Caernarfon, had denied all the offences, which had left the vic- tim seriously traumatised well into adulthood.

The judge said he took into account Roscoe had a wife who was standing by him and he would be vulnerable in prison.

A number of people had written testimonials which showed there was another side to him, said the judge.

An indefinite sexual harm prevention order was made after a pre-sentence report suggested he was a high risk of serious harm to female children in particular.

Kim Halsall, defending, told Mold Crown Court that at the time of the offences Roscoe had been running a farm and working at a laundry.

A prison sentence would cause considerable problems in his personal life and to his partner, she said.
