BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION: The Fair arranged by the Caernarfon and district branch will be held in the Institute Building, Caernarfon next Friday, November 11. from 10am onwards. RNLI: With effect from Saturday November 5, the shop and boathouse will be open only at weekends from noon to 4pm, until Sunday December 18. Due largely to recent wide media coverage of the work of the RNLI, stocks of cards, calendars and diaries are disappeari­ng fast, but there is still a wide variety of toys and gifts for all ages, and for youngsters who ‘have everything’ membership of Storm Force gives them a real connection with this vital service, and teaches them how to remain safe on and by the sea. And every purchase you make helps to keep your local RNLI volunteers afloat.

SINGING FOR FUN: Lleisiau’r Byd World Voices is a friendly and informal community choir. Meets every Wednesday in term-time 7.30 to 9.30 in the Jerusalem Hall in Cricieth. £5 a session, with first one free. The choir sings songs in a variety of styles and languages in glorious harmony. WILLIAM SELWYN JONES: 1 Penllystyn, Bryncir, Garndolben­maen. Died at 11 Y Garreg, Groeslon on October 22, aged 68 years. He was Born in Pwllheli. Trained as a butcher but worked for many years as a lorry driver. A very keen railway enthusiast. Proud father of Richard, Carys, Gwen and the late Goronwy, and a loving grandfathe­r. Funeral was held on October 28 at 1pm. The service was held at Soar Chapel, Bryncir. He was laid to rest at Gorffwysfa Cemetery, Llanllyfni. The service was officiated by Rev Marcus Wyn Robinson. The bearers were Richard Jones, Dafydd Rees Jones, Arwel Jones, Dylan Jones, Craig Shingler and Chris Hughes-Evans. Principal mourners were Jane Jones and Johnny Hughes-Evans, Richard Jones (son), Carys and Dafydd Rees Jones (daughter and son-in-law), Gwen Lewis and Craig (daughter and son-in-law), Beth, Will, Chloe, Daniel, Luke and Sophie (grandchild­ren), Hilda and Emlyn Jones (sister and brother-in-law), Emlyn and Diane Jones (brother and sister-in-law), Dilys Jones (sister-in-law), Anona and Richard Price (mother and father-in-law), Bethan and Iwan Jones (sister-in-law and husband), Ifan Price (brother-in-law), Robin Price and Linda Jones (brother-in-law and partner), Geraint and Lynne Price (brother-in-law and wife), Arwel Jones, Dylan Jones, Ciron Price and Leah Price (nephews and niece), and numerous family and friends. Floral tributes were by: Jane Jones and Johnny Hughes-Evans; Carys and Dafydd Rees Jones; Richard Jones; Gwen Lewis and Craig; Beth, Will, Chloe, Daniel, Luke and Sophie; Hilda, Emlyn, Dylan, Angharad, Arwel, Sian and Jack; Linda Plymouth; Dilys; Emlyn, Diane, Daniel and Damien; Anona and Richard Price; Alwena and Paul; Auntie Eileen and Uncle Peter; Chris, Tracey and girls. Refreshmen­ts were provided at Groeslon Village Hall. Unavoidabl­y absent were Alwena and Paul (sister-in-law and husband), Linda (Plymouth) (cousin). Also thanks to Iolo and the staff of Roberts and Owen, Pen-y-groes for their wonderful service, and also to the Rev Marcus Wyn Robinson. Thank you also to Mrs Mair Parry (organist). The sum of £314.50 received in memory of Sel was donated to the Wales Air Ambulance Appeal. The funeral arrangemen­ts were by Roberts & Owen, Birmingham House, Pen-y-groes.
