HEN GASTELL: Jane Kenney of Gwynedd Archaeolog­ical Trust (GAT) will give a talk at Llanwnda Community Centre, on November 24 at 7.30pm about Hen Gastell in Llanwnda. She directed GAT’s excavation in 2014 of the monument, which had a large ditch and bank, and was initially thought to be from the Iron Age, but turned out to be a manor house of Medieval date. Tea and coffee will be available after the talk.

PENSIONERS CLUB: A meeting was held on November 1 with Mrs B W Jones in the chair. Mrs Jones welcomed members best wishes were sent to members unable to attend. The club’s sympathy was sent to the family of Mr W J Thomas who had been a faithful member of the club. The meeting continued with a quiz prepared by Mrs B W Jones it was enjoyed by all. The next meeting will be the trip to Llandudno on Tuesday, December 6. The bus will leave the garage at 8.30am and Y Groes at 8.45am the bus will leave Llandudno at 4pm. FRIENDS OF THE POLISH HOME: In a recent AGM of the Friends of Polish Home Charity; it was decided to bring the charity to a close after 18 years of fundraisin­g for the Polish Home Residents fund. This decision was mainly due to a dwindling number of committee members; and with no new volunteers coming forward to boost the numbers it was inevitable that the Friends could not carry on. However the present committee will continue to function until December 31,2016, as further events have been planned. For any informatio­n regarding this matter contact 01766-810075.

ANNUAL CAROL SERVICE:. On December 11 the Annual Trilingual Carol Service will be held at the Polish Home Church at 8pm. The conductor will be Mr G.Griffith, Llwyndyrus; accompanie­d by Miss Gillian Williams on the organ. The well known singers Ann & Simon will be present together with members of the Pwllheli Band. Admission is free but a collection will be made towards the Polish Residents Funds. Please note that this will be last Carol Service to be arranged by the Friends of Polish Home as the charity is to be disbanded at the end of the year. We look forward to your company for the final time and thank you for your continued support throughout the years.
