BANC BWYD ARFON FOOD BANK: The food bank members wishes to thank everyone who helped at the Tesco Caernarfon and Tesco Bangor collection recently. They also wishes to thank every institutio­n that has donated food and money during 2016.The food bank is open every Tuesday and Friday during the year at the Pentecosta­l Church( Canolfan Gwyrfai) at Cibyn between noon. and 2pm. However the foodbank will be closed on Tuesday December 27 and will reopen on Friday December 30. AGEING WELL: Age Cymru Gwynedd a Mon have teamed up with Communitie­s First and Gwynedd Council to run an ageing well project for over-50s in Bangor and Caernarfon. The aim is to encourage older people to come for a cuppa and a chat, and to take part in activities if they so wish. For example there are gentle chair exercises in the scout hut in Maesincla, Caernarfon every Wednesday from 10am onwards, a computer skills course every Friday from 10.30am onwards, whereby people can bring their own devices to learn on, or use ones provided for them. These sessions will commence from Wednesday, January 11 and Friday January 13 onwards. Safwe Salem : capelsalem­caernarfon.com. CAERNARFON GOLF CLUB: Ladies Section. The Christmas Competitio­ns came to an end on December 13, with the Wines and Spirits Comp. Winners were Nia Williams and Nan Bate with 33pts. Previously the Christmas Cake Competitio­n which is traditiona­lly the gift of the Vice Captain, was won by Trish Parkins who also won the Turkey Trot competitio­n. The members brought the year to an end with a 90th celebrator­y birthday in honour of Ciss Lloyd a long standing member of the Club who plays golf every week. Eiddwen Roberts had donated a Christmas Cake which was raffled in aid of the Syrian Refugees and raised £65. Lady Captain Rita Vaughan Thomas presented Ciss with a bouquet of flowers and congratula­ted her on a special birthday. She also thanked Eiddwen for her kind gesture. The Ladies Presentati­on Night and Dinner is on Saturday January 21 and the Club’s AGM is being held on Friday, January 27. If you fancy golf in 2017, the club’s Profession­al Aled Owen can arrange lessons.
