Healthy eating tips for pupils

-

● Pupils from Ysgol Chwilog in Pwllheli, have been learning about healthy eating following a visit by Dylan’s Restaurant chef Dan Roberts. During a food tasting workshop on Wednesday, the children had a chance to sample a variety of food items, from Welsh cheese and seasonal fruit and veg, to locally caught crab, oysters and mussels. They were then asked to say which were their favourite and least favourite, and then describe the different tastes and textures they had experienced. Dylan’s were invited to the school by headteacher Mrs Lyndsey Vaughan Pleming, and 24 pupils aged 7-11 took part. Lyndsey said: “We’re really grateful to Dylan’s for coming along to teach the children about healthy eating, a theme that is particularly apt for this time of year. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session, and many of them sampled food they had never tried before. Interactive workshops like these are a great way to introduce pupils to the variety of healthy and tasty produce that we have locally.” Rhianne Hughes, Assistant Manager at Dylan’s Criccieth said: “We love taking our ingredients out to local schools and encouraging children to try new flavours. The feedback is always very positive, and many youngsters are surprised by how tasty things like mussels and sundried tomatoes are. We’d like to thank Ysgol Chwilog for the warm welcome, and if any other local schools are interested in having a tasting workshop with one of our chefs, please do contact us at the restaurant.”
