We’re almost ready to roll

IT’S one of the most hotly anticipated attractions for North Wales in 2017 and our sister paper the Daily Post has been given an exclusive first look.

With just weeks to go before the official opening, Zip World chiefs provided a behind-the-scenes peek at their new Fforest Coaster ride.

Stretching over 1,000 metres (more than half a mile) around the Zip World Fforest, it will be the first of its kind in the UK.

Staff are busy working hard finishing off the final touches.

The Fforest Coaster is a gravity driven ride on elevated tracks situated in the middle of the park’s stunning woodland.

Riders are cranked up a 500 metre rise to reach the top before descending into the forest at speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour – 25mph. It also reaches heights of up to 5.2 metres (17 feet) off the ground.

You can control your speed if you’re not feeling too brave, but those seeking a thrill can descend with no brake at all.

Alwyn Jones, the Fforest Coaster project supervisor, revealed it does get “very steep”.

“With a normal rollercoaster, you get winched up and then it’s gravity driven all the way, and that’s the same with us,” he said. “There will be a machine at the top and the middle section and then from there, it’s gravity which takes you all the way round. “I hate rollercoasters but to be honest, I’m looking forward to riding this.

“It doesn’t matter about your age - it’s fun for all.”

Mr Jones also revealed it is hoped the new ride should be completed by April to allow ticket sales for Easter – ahead of the May 10 scheduled finishing date.

“We’re coming to the last bit of the project now,” he added. “We’ve got about two months left of it, we’re just doing the final touches.

“We are looking to be on track.”

The Fforest Coaster will follow in the footsteps of Zip World’s other ground-breaking zipline and u n d e r g round trampoline adventures.
