SUNDAY TIMES PLAUDITS ARE ‘GOOD NEWS FOR PENINSULA’
A North Wales village has been declared one of the best places to live in the UK.
Abersoch, on the Llŷn peninsula in Gwynedd, is one of 12 locations in Wales to be listed in The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide.
It is the only village in the whole of North Wales to make the cut. The guide assesses a wide range of factors, from jobs, exam results and broadband speed to culture, community spirit and local shops in order to compile the definitive top locations.
Cllr RH Wyn Williams has said it’s a “great advert” for the area as a whole.
Cllr Williams commented: “I definitely agree that Abersoch is one of the best places to live.
“We have glorious views and very mild weather conditions, which helps attract visitors.
“This is very good news for our mixed, bilingual society and I’m very pleased that we’ve been mentioned as it helps promote the area.
“This isn’t just good news for Abersoch, it’s good news for the whole of Pen Llŷn because it shows what lovely towns and villages we have to offer to visitors and those looking to move to the area.”
Factors such as local pubs, ease of transport and the range of attractive properties are also analysed by a judging panel who take into consideration their own experience of the villages, towns and cities.
The village also featured in The Sunday Times’ annual Best Places To Live supplement back in 2013, 2014 and 2016.
Abersoch is renowned for its picturesque beaches and annual festival, Glass Butter Beach.
It also boasts a wide range of shops and restaurants. Also on the list were: Abergavenny in Monmouthshire, Bishopston and the Gower in West Glamorgan, Cardigan in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthen in Carmarthenshire, Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan, Hay-on-Wye in Powys, Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire, Llanidloes in Powys, Monmouth in Monmouthshire, Narberth in Pembrokeshire and Penarth in Vale of Glamorgan.
