BUY A BRICK FOR CLUB’S WALL OF FAME

-

FOOTBALL fans can leave their mark at their beloved club by helping build a wall of fame. Caernarfon Town FC supporters are being asked to buy a personalised brick for the feature behind one of the goals at their Oval stadium. The wall is the idea of academy coach Alex Philp to raise much-needed funds for the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance club. A thousand £20 bricks are being sold on a first-come, first-served basis, with manager Iwan Williams and club captain Nathan Craig (pictured) among the first to snap one up. Alex said: “I came up with the idea for a Wall of Fame ( Wal y Cewri) to recognise the club’s legends and also give the fans the possibility of buying their own bricks and share a special memory, make a family dedication or buy one as a gift for a diehard supporter.” Alex said the green and yellow bricks – to match the club’s colours – are made of long-lasting composite aluminium. Fans can write up to three lines of text in any language they want, with 16 spaces on each line. The fans’ bricks on The Wall of Fame will appear among ones for the club’s legends including Wyn Davies, who played for Llanberis, Caernarfon, Wrexham and a host of other clubs, most notably Newcastle United. Former Tottenham Hotspur player Ernie Walley and his brother Tom, who played for Arsenal and Watford, will also feature on the wall. The club is selling the bricks from the club shop and also on ebay so fans from further afield can buy themtoo. A certificate of authenticity will be provided as a memento. Alex, who is also a postman, added: “When I joined the board as a representative of the Canaries supporters club halfway through this season, I organised a reunion of the 1977/78 team which won four trophies. “And a week on Saturday (March 18) we’ll be having a reunion of the team which enjoyed its most successful FA Cup run by beating Fourth Division Stockport County and Third Division York City before losing a third round replay to Second Division Barnsley in 1986/87.”
