Community projects can benefit from variety of cash support

GWYNEDD voluntary and community groups are being urged to consider applying for revenue and capital grants that will support projects to improve the quality of life in the county.

The Cist Gwynedd Voluntary Developmen­t Fund offers financial assistance of up to £10,000 to voluntary and commu- nity groups and charities. In addition, the Welsh Church Act Fund offers grants of up to £3,000 to registered charities and small grants of £300 for Eisteddfod­au in Gwynedd.

From April 2017, Cist Gwynedd will also take responsibi­lity for administer­ing the Sportlot Community Chest Fund in Gwynedd. This fund offers grants of up to £1,500 to sports, community or fitness and wellbeing groups, for projects that increase participat­ion and create new opportunit­ies in sport and physical activities. Cllr Mandy WilliamsDa­vies, who leads on Economy for Gwynedd Council, said: “Cist Gwynedd grants support a variety of projects led by local volunteers. This is an opportunit­y to make a real difference in our communitie­s.”

The next closing dates for submitting applicatio­ns for the VDF and Welsh Church Act Fund are March 30 and June 30, 2017. The next closing date for the Sport Wales Community Chest Fund is April 5.
