The food bank serves the whole Arfon district from Abergwyngr­egyn to Llanllyfni and Pontllyfni. AGEING WELL: Age Cymru Gwynedd a Mon have teamed up with Communitie­s First and Gwynedd Council to run an ageing well project for over-50s in Bangor and Caernarfon. The aim is to encourage older people to come for a cuppa and a chat, and to take part in activities if they so wish. For example there are gentle chair exercises in the scout hut in Maesincla, Caernarfon every Wednesday from 10am onwards, a computer skills course every Friday from 10am onwards, whereby people can bring their own devices to learn on, or use ones provided for them. IT CLASSES: Age Cymru Gwynedd a Môn is providing IT classes for older people (over 50) free of charge at the Scout Hut, Maesincla at 10am, every Friday. ARTHRITIS CARE: Caernarfon Branch. GWYL FWYD CAERNARFON: Between now and May 13 there will be three fundraisin­g events, which are essential to maintain the founding principle of free entry to the Festival. On April 22 a Tapas Trail will visit six of Caernarfon’s eateries, led by Emrys Llywelyn Jones. On Saturday May 6, two exclusive carriages on the Welsh Highland Railway will transport passengers to the Glaslyn Osprey Project, with a nature walk and story-telling. On Friday May 12, following the success of last year’s occasion, there will be a second Sdwnsh Coginio at Galeri. Tickets for all events are available at Palas Print. Saturday, May 13 is the date of the Food Festival with more stallholde­rs and an expanded programme of activities. To stage such a large scale event, the help of community volunteers is vital. COR COFNOD: On Friday, April 7, at 7.30 pm, Cor Cofnod will hold a charity concert at Theatr Seilo, Caernarfon. ‘Special’ for more than one reason. the ladies choir, noted for performing for charitable causes, will host a concert in aid of Tŷ Gobaith, the children’s hospice based in the Conwy Valley. The choir has commisione­d Karen Owen, the poet from Penygroes, to write lyrics to celebrate over 40 years since the choir (formerly known as Alawon Menai) was formed. Then the composer Robat Arwyn, originally from Talysarn but now of Rhuthun, was asked to compose the music. Côr Cofnod’s guests on the night will be: Seffan Rhys Hughes of Llangwyfan who has won the most prizes in the history of the National Eisteddfod. He won the Urdd’s Bryn Terfel Scholarshi­p in the autumn and has recently joined Only Men Aloud. Gwilym Bowen Rhys, the young folk singer from Bethel, who also sings with Plu and Bandana.
