We’re all so lucky to have known him
A CLOSE friend of a young dad who was found dead on the banks of the Menai Strait has paid a heartbreaking tribute to a “loving family man”.
Johnathan Peter Edwards’ body was discovered last Tuesday after the 21-year-old married father-of-one, also known as Jono, went missing from his home in Caernarfon on March 19.
Chelsea Jones, 20, said Mr Edwards was “the kind of person who listened to anyone”, adding: “He was such a lovely and popular man who knew who his closest friends were.
“Those who knew him were really lucky to have known him – he was always there for me and always supported me.”
Following news of the tragic death, Miss Jones set up a Just Giving page online to raise funds for Mr Edwards’ family.
On the page, she wrote: “I have set this page for a very respectable, kind, loving family man who was sadly taken to soon.”
Speaking to our sister paper the Daily Post, she added: “The community has really pulled together to raise funds for his family to help get them through this hard time.
“All money raised will go towards Johnathan’s funeral and anything left over will be donated to Johnathan’s family and to his daughter he has sadly left behind.
“We’re hoping to raise as much as possible – we are all grateful for every donation that is made.”
A prize bingo event has also been organised by Mr Edwards’ friends, which will take place at Canolfan Ebeneser, Caernarfon, on May 13 to raise further funds for his family.
Mourners have posted their condolences on the death of Mr Edwards, originally from Llangefni, Anglesey, on the Daily Post Facebook pages.
Eryl Ann Jones wrote: “Hope he’s at peace now. So sad. Thoughts are with his family and friends. God bless.”
Nat Wils added: “RIP to a true friend who helped me through everything. Sad to hear you’re gone mate.”
