Showcase for local arts and crafts
THIS week we look at Art & Soul Community Craft, which opened last month in Colwyn Bay.
Art & Soul is an initiative born out of the embryonic ideas of three local artists: Ginny Helsen, artist and creator; Kathy Cook, unique free-style weaving, textiles and photography, and Denise Jones, pottery, clay and porcelain creations.
The trio are all bringing fresh creative ideas and energy to the town centre.
The building has workspace, exhibition and retail areas and Ginny, Kathy and Denise bring an amazing range of artistic and craft skills to their business, as well as enabling other local artists and craft-workers to showcase their beautiful and exquisite work too.
Currently also exhibiting within The Studio are: Sarah Kearsley-Wooller, fused glass window and table pieces; Fiona Tooby, felted jewellery; Paul Luckock, abstract fine art; Helen Robinson, fused glass jewellery and pictorial creations; Susan Hinde, gold-work, embroidery and felt-work; Tess Catton, collagraphs and paintings); Jacquie Berry, fusion of fractal photographs and artistic collages; Valerie Cockcroft, silk embroideries; Sue Frier, bags, silk-rope bowls and embroidered brooches; Wilma Kingsbury, print cards;; Jess Pritchard, sil-verwork jewellery, and Bobl Bach creations from Ceri Williams.
Art & Soul are also incredibly proud to be supporting an outstanding community project - PenrhosPenrhos Upcycled 4U, which supports youngsters aged 14-16, who, for a variety of reasons, are not able to sustain full time education.
Art & Soul also plan to deliver a wide range of workshops for all ages and abilities, including some regular drop-in taster courses.
