- Andrew Campbell

THE Daily Post opened its new office in Colwyn Bay last week.

Wales’ biggest selling regional newspaper moved five miles east to Bryn Eirias, Abergele Road – ending its 16-year association with its office in Vale Road, Llandudno Junction.

Built in 2007, Bryn Eirias will provide improved facilities to allow the Daily Post, its website and its sister weekly titles in the Mail, Weekly News and Herald stables to prosper and grow.

The new office will become home to more than 30 journalists and more than a dozen commercial staff who produce the Daily Post, the North Wales Weekly News, the Caernarfon and Denbigh Herald and the Bangor and Holyhead Mail series.

Readers and customers will still have access to advertising and editorial staff at Bryn Eirias and telephone numbers will be unchanged.

Daily Post Editor Andrew Campbell said: “We have some wonderful memories of our time in Llandudno Junction but we’re also incredibly excited to be making the move to a more modern facility in such a beautiful part of North Wales.

“We are delighted to be staying in the heart of the region and in a location that is perfectly placed to proudly serve our loyal readership.

“Bryn Eirias offers improved facilities with particularly enhanced internet access. It’s also close to the police headquarters and opposite Parc Eirias which plays host to the region’s top rugby team RGC as well as some of North Wales’ top con- certs.

“Colwyn Bay is on the up and we’re delighted to become part of its resurgence.

“We firmly believe this new office is perfectly suited to enable Wales’ best regional newspaper and the region’s most viewed news website to prosper for many years to come.”

Trinity Mirror North Wales Business Development Director Andy Phelan added: ‘’Staying in the local area was an essential part of our ongoing commitment to supporting local business with their marketing strategies whilst upgrading premises to more appropriately reflect our modern multi media services means it is an exciting time for our North Wales operation.’’

Trinity Mirror North West and North Wales Managing Director Carl Wood said: “We are pleased and excited to be investing in North Wales. It is a huge part of Trinity Mirror’s past, present and future.’’

The Daily Post was founded in Liverpool in 1855 and has been North Wales’ main daily newspaper for more than a century.

The Welsh Daily Post was managed from the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo’s base in Liverpool city centre until November 2000 when it moved into the North Wales Weekly News offices in Llandudno Junction.

The future of the Vale Road site is currently the subject of planning negotiations, with supermarket chain Lidl having expressed an interest in developing the site. ● The Daily Post, whose new address is Bryn Eirias, Colwyn Bay, LL29 8BF, will continue to be printed in Oldham.
