Celts rewarded after tremendous season

-

AFTER a tough season Caernarfon Celts players picked up a number of awards at North Wales Basketball’s senior presentation night at the Springfield Hotel, Holywell.

The team was presented with trophies as the Plate competition winners.

Niall Williams received several accolades, which included Senior League MVP of the Season as well as league top scorer.

Niall was also named as the league’s top three-point shooter.

His evening was not to end there, however, as he was also named in the NWBA Senior League All Star Five.

Also rewarded for a highly successful season was Celts U18’s player Llifon Torr, who scooped the NWBA Senior League Young Player of the Year 2016/17 trophy.

Celts senior head coach Arwel Jones said: “As well as being extremely talented on the court, Niall and Llifon have both contributed to all aspects of the club and are much-valued members of the junior coaching set-up.

“The Celts have had a busy year with both junior and senior teams expanding their base of players towards the end of the season.

“We look forward to building on the foundations of this year in the hope of becoming one of the major basketball clubs in Wales in future years.”

The club is to host its first ever presentation night this Friday evening from 6.30pm at Ysgol yr Hendre for all the junior and senior players who have competed in the North Wales League during this promising and rewarding season.
