Diary date for stalwart Ozzie’s testimonial

-

CAERNARFON Town will stage a special game in honour of a club stalwart this summer.

The Grahame Austin Appreciation Match will take place at The Oval on Saturday, July 8, at 7.30pm.

The teams involved will be the two Austin has experienced most success with in his career – Caernarfon and Llangefni Town.

Austin, 36, has won the Huws Gray Alliance title with both the Canaries and Cefni.

He also has Welsh Premier experience with Llangefni, Porthmadog, Conwy United and Colwyn Bay.

“Ozzie’s” special game will be the final act of a fun day at The Oval which will also include junior matches and various activities for the family.

Caernarfon manager Iwan Williams said: “Our former club captain Grahame Austin recently had to retire from football due to a serious back injury sustained during our double-winning season.

“I say ‘retire’, however Ozzie still says ‘never say never’ and this epitomises how strong a character he is and how much influence he’s had over the four years he’s been at Caernarfon Town.

“When you go to battle, you want Ozzie with you and this has probably been his one downfall given the seriousness of the injury he has sustained.

“We look forward to welcoming Llangefni for this special match, as it is the club where Ozzie spent the majority of his career at.

“I’ve already promised him that I will also be coming on to grace The Oval with him one last time to help carry him through the game for a period as I did on numerous occasions during his brilliant career!”

The Llangefni fixture will also be an integral part of Caernarfon’s pre-season.
