Nature is the original classroom

-

AFTER being crowned and given a wand, the lead walker of the Great Big Walk, Richard, did not walk to Llanberis Community Fete, but rather dance and sung his way there, with local children aiding him with their musical instruments.

The Llanberis Community Fete, organised by Wild Elements, was a hit with the Great Big Walk team, saying: “What a warm welcome from the community of Llanberis today. They opened their arms to us and demonstrated beautifully what can be achieved when the differing skills of community groups and individuals come together. Especially when we use the stunning outdoor spaces we have on our doorstep! It felt really good to be part of something so creative, reminding us all, young or older, that nature is our original classroom”.

Richard and two members of the Great Big Walk team had just walked Snowdon, before marching to Llanberis to join the festivities. Richard made sure to speak to everyone involved with the fete, with his personality showing no fatigue despite walking and meeting new people for the past week.

Wild Elements and the Great Big Walk volunteers happily told the tale of the Great Big Walk, and how it all leads up to the annual Big Lunch, Sunday, June 18.

Wild Elements is Social Enterprise aiming to get people outdoors and closer to nature, the fun way! Reaching out to local communities in Gwynedd, Conwy and Anglesey, they deliver Forest Schools, Forest Kindergarten, outdoor education sessions and bushcraft parties.
