VIOLENCE ERUPTS ON 80S FANCY DRESS NIGHT
Two off-duty police taken to hospital with serious injuries after ‘awful’ fight
THREE off-duty policemen were injured in a brawl at an 80s fancy dress night at a Caernarfon pub.
An eye-witness described the scene at the Four Alls as “like something from the Wild West”, with glasses and bottles flying.
It is understood the altercation broke out at around 10.45pm on Saturday night, and that there were “pools of blood” on the floor following the clashes.
Eyewitnesses, who did not wish to be named, said: “It was a pretty awful incident, it was like the Wild West.
“When the scuffle broke out the atmosphere became very charged.
“There were glasses being thrown around and the pub had to be closed because of all the blood.”
The eye-witness said uniformed officers arrived soon afterwards, adding: “I’ve never seen so many police officers in one pub, the ambulance also turned up.”
Cai Davies, 22, who runs the Enterprise Inns-owned pub said: “It was a horrendous situation.
“A row broke out and one of the off-duty policemen tried to be the peacemaker but has ended up in a really bad way. The amount of blood was shocking, I was trying to talk to him to keep him awake and phoned the police. I felt so bad for him as he’d been gashed.”
Mr Davies continued: “I’m devastated this has happened I’ve only had the licence for four months and everything was going well.
“Things like this don’t happen in Caernarfon, I’ve looked at the pub log book and the last time anything like this happened was five years ago.
“People have been asking if I’m ok, I just hope the injured man is ok.”
A Welsh Ambulance spokesman said: “We were called at shortly before 11pm on Saturday to reports of an incident at the Four Alls in Caernarfon.
“We sent a paramedic in a rapid response car and a crew in an emergency ambulance and two men were taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in a stable condition.”
Supt Nigel Harrison at Caernarfon Police Station said “At about 10.50pm on Saturday 1st July officers have responded to reports of a disturbance at the Four Alls Pub in Caernarfon, which has left three off duty police offices with injuries.
