FOUR IN COURT OVER GUN DEATH
AUGUST 31 COURT DATE SET
Tragedy struck in Llanbedrog:
FOUR men have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenager.
Peter Robert Colwell died in the car park of the Ship Inn, Llanbedrog, near Pwllheli, on Sunday, February 5.
Last Wednesday, police charged four men, aged in their early 20s, with firearms offences.
The men, who were known to the 18-year-old, were originally arrested at the scene following Mr Colwell’s death on suspicion of murder.
They will appear before magistrates on August 31.
Senior Investigating Officer Det Insp Gerwyn Thomas at North Wales Police said: “Following a comprehensive investigation and regular consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, four local men, aged in their early 20s, and known to Peter Colwell, have been charged with fire- arms offences. There was insufficient evidence to proceed with any other charges and Peter’s family, who continue to be supported by police family liaison officers, have been informed of this latest development.
“Our thoughts remain with them. As the matter is now before the court, it would be inappropriate to add anything further at this time.”
Following Mr Colwell’s death, his family paid tribute to the teenager. They said: “Peter was a popular young man who loved fishing and field sports.
“He left college last summer and went up north to work as a boy and came back a fine young man. He will be sadly missed by his mother, father, family and many friends.
“He loved his dogs and had just started a job that he wanted more than anything.
“We as a family feel that we have lost a beautiful soul.”
