Crafting skills can lead to show prizes
THIS week, Craft Creations is back to chat with Aulwyn Latham, of Crafts by Aulwyn. Aulwyn, who we featured last month, is a member of Rhos-on-Sea Country Market and she, along with other members, was entered into several of the competitions, including ccrafts and produce, at the recent Eglwysbach Show.
The group wwas delilighted to ccome away with a number of first, second and third placings and Highly Commendeds, including a Best in Show award.
It was Aulwyn’s first time of entering, and she did it purely for the pleasure and experience and wasn’t expecting to win anything.
She entered nine classes and was absolutely thrilled with the results, as she managed to achieve a Highly commended, two third places and two second places!
The group have also won further first prizes at the Denbighshire show.
Rhos-on-Sea Country Market takes place every Friday and offers a range of home-baked wares and preserves, handmade crafts, cards and jewellery, plus home-grown plants and produce.
It is held at the Methodist Church Hall, St George’s Road, Rhos-onSea, from 10am to noon. As well as welcoming visitors to the markets, they are also very keen to encourage new members to join them.
If you have an interest in crafts and enjoy making items at home, why not consider becoming a member, too? You can work on your hobby at your leisure and then bring your finished craft along to their meetings on a Friday (attendance each week is not compulsory).
Maybe you are a young mum at home, who enjoys crafting as a hobby? Earn a little extra revenue and, at the same time, meet likeminded people and also learn new skills, as they are a very friendly group who enjoy sharing their crafting knowledge.
To find out more, either pop along to the market on a Friday morning for a chat, or get in touch via their Facebook page: Rhos on Sea Country Market
