PENTREFELIN YNYSCYNHAEARN CHURCH: This his­toric church will be open to cel­e­brate Her­itage Open Doors week­end on Sun­day, Septem­ber 3 from 11am to 4pm. The church lies in a peace­ful val­ley about a mile from the vil­lage of Pentrefelin. It is ac­ces­si­ble by car, but park­ing is ex­tremely lim­ited and it is an easy and pleas­ant walk through work­ing farm­land (all dogs on leads please!). Once the Parish Church for the whole area of Gest, it is now in the care of the Friends of Friend­less Churches, and holds Reg­is­ters of Bap­tisms, Mar­riages and Fu­ner­als for the last cen­tury. The grave­yard is fas­ci­nat­ing, in­clud­ing the coloured ‘slave’ Jac Black (John Ys­tum­l­lyn) and the harpist Dafydd y Gar­reg Wen.
