FOUR IN COURT ON GUN DEATH
All bailed until October:
FOUR men have appeared in court charged in connection with the death of a teenager found shot dead in a vehicle.
Peter Colwell, 18, died from a single gunshot wound to his head following an incident near the Ship Inn, Llanbedrog, on the Llyn peninsula, on February 5.
Yesterday, at Caernarfon Magistrates Court, Harry Robert Shane Butler, 22, of Llaniestyn, Pwllheli, Benjamin George Fitzsimons, 22, and Michael David Fitzsimons, 24, both of Nanhoron, Pwllheli, all denied a charge of possessing a loaded shotgun in a public place.
Ben Andrew Wilson, 28, of Ely Street, Ely, Cambridgeshire, offered no plea to the charge, nor to three counts of failing to comply with conditions of a firearm certificate and two charges of failing to comply with conditions on a loaded shotgun certificate.
Magistrates have decided the case should now be dealt with at the crown court.
All four were granted an extension of their bail until the hearing on October 2 at Caernarfon Crown Court, under the condition they are not intoxicated in a public place and do not possess any firearms.
Following his death Peter, pictured, right, from Clynnog Fawr, was described as a “lovely lad” and a “gentle giant” by devastated family and friends.
In a statement released at the time, his family said: “Peter was a popular young man who loved fishing and field sports. He left college last summer and went up north to work as a boy and came back a fine young man.
“He will be sadly missed by his mother, father, family and many friends. He loved his dogs and had just started a job he wanted more than anything.
“We, as a family, feel that we have lost a beautiful soul.”
