Cofis top after losing only one
CAERNARFON Ladies have made a strong start to the season, currently occupying top spot in the North Wales Women’s Hockey League.
Caernarfon have had only one disappointing loss – against Bangor University – in their first five games. They will also compete in the cup quarter-finals on December 2.
The Cofis bounced back from their loss to Bangor Uni with a 4-0 win against Llandudno on November 8 thanks to a hat-trick from Lois Welsh and a goal from player of the match Manon Williams.
Another great result followed against Penllyn last Saturday with Caernarfon playing well as a team. Strong interceptions from PoM Gwen Wilkinson and skilful passing between midfielders and forwards led to two goals by Manon Williams before half time.
After switching positions, Penllyn came back in the second half, putting the pressure on the Caernarfon defence.
Following a third goal by Caernarfon’s winger Rhiannon Evans, the Bala scored twice shortly before the last whistle for a final score of 3-2.
Caernarfon’s next league game will be played at Plas Silyn, Penygroes on November 25 against Bangor City.
