Pwllheli edge Penrhyn in 11-goal Cookson Cup stormer

PWLLHELI beat Penrhyndeudraeth 6-5 in a Welsh Alliance Cookson Cup stormer at Maes-yParc.

Penrhyn led 5-3 at one stage through a Jack Jones hat-trick, plus goals from Sion Aron Roberts and Carwyn Price.

However, Pwllheli refused to give in and sealed it with three Dylan Sion Jones penalties, Mark Jones (2) and Tomos Llywelyn Jones provided the winner.

After 11 winless attempts in the league, Llandyrnog United got off the mark in the Cookson Cup, beating Llanberis 2-0 thanks to a Luke Appleby double.

In Welsh Alliance Division Two, Nedw Clwyd bagged a treble and Sam Jones a double as Llannefydd turned on the goal power in the second half to sweep aside Blaenau Amateurs 8-2.
