thought for the week

- David Sales

IF you only had the aisles of the supermarket to discover what Christmas was all about, you would be totally confused. This year the chief characters of Christmas are elves!

Look hard enough, though and you might find genuine clues – stars, a pair of angel’s wings, or, most importantly, the general impression that we are celebrating light after the dark blackness of Halloween.

But it is not just light that is coming after a dark time. This light is far more personal and also more mind-blowing.

God decided to enter the world as the Light of the world. He came, not as a bolt of lightning, but as a baby born to a poor family in an obscure place in the middle of a dark night.

But this birth did not come unannounced. It was told of by powerful angels and by a new star appearing in the sky. It was announced that when this baby came, we could receive peace, freedom from all our sins and wrong-doing, to serve God without fear all the rest of our lives and forever. Read it for yourself in the first two chapters of Matthew’s and Luke’s Gospels.

Go into Kingdom Krafts in Madoc Street, Llandudno, and delve into all their resources, or come to one of the many services at local churches to share with those who have found this Light for themselves.

This baby grew up to be the most influential person to walk the face of our planet, radically changing millions of lives for good and forever because he truly revealed what God is really like.

Love came down at Christmas.
