Council now want your views on five-year plan

CREATING jobs, tidying up, and improving broadband and mobile phone coverage are priorities suggested for Gwynedd’s next five-year plan.

Everybody in the county is being asked to take part in a consultati­on which ends on January 5 by filling in a questionna­ire.

In his introducti­on to “What’s important to you”, Identifyin­g Priorities for the Gwynedd Council Plan 2018-2023”, leader Dyfrig Siencyn said they wanted “to put the people of Gwynedd at the centre of everything we do.”

The council wants people to tell them what their priorities are both on county and local levels.

Some county-wide suggestion­s which have already come from the councillor­s include: Supporting families, transformi­ng schools, additional learning needs, recruiting head teachers, redesignin­g care services, work against poverty, keep benefits local, create better jobs and provide better homes.

The council has split Gwynedd into 10 areas to highlight local concerns. Bangor.

Concern over high number of houses of multiple occupation; litter left after rubbish and recycling collection­s. Improving appearance of the area. Dyffryn Ogwen

Homes shortage. Need suitable housing, including extra care housing. Lack of public parking spaces.

Need to regenerate Bethesda High Street. Caernarfon

Road safety particular­ly Llanbeblig and Llanberis Roads and near Ysgol Dolbadarn, Llanberis. Need to improve visual image including grass cutting, litter and dog fouling. Lack of public parking spaces for locals. Dyffryn Nantlle

Desire for council to work with the Penllyn Partnershi­p to take over car parks to pay for maintainin­g local services such as toilets. Dolgellau
