£18,000 raised for family of crash victims

‘WHOLE COMMUNITY WANTED TO HELP’

- Hywel Trewyn

NEARLY £20,000 has been raised for the family of a young woman and her niece killed in a car accident.

Six-month-old Mili Wyn Ginniver and her aunt Anna Williams, 22, died after the car they were in collided with a lorry on January 11.

Mili’s mother Sioned Williams, who was driving the Ford Fiesta, remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Three vigils have been held since the crash on the A487 at Gellilydan, near Blaenau Ffestiniog, to offer support to the family.

Now donations to a fundraising appeal set up by family friend Glesni Williams-Davies have exceeded £18,000.

Mili’s dad, Luke Ginniver, said he has been “overwhelmed” by the public’s support.

On her Just Giving page, mumof -fo ur Mrs Williams-Davies said: “Following a devastating accident that took the lives of beautiful Anna and her gorgeous niece Mili, and leaving Sioned fighting for her life at Stoke Hospital, we as a close community are trying to raise funds for the family... to ease th e financial burden of travel, hotels etc.

“We would like to convey our sincere condolences to the entire family and friends at this most terribly sad time.”

Speaking to our sister paper the Daily Post, Mrs Davies said: “Everybody in this community was really shocked and wanted to do whatever they could to help the family.” Care worker Mrs Davies said £18,472 had been raised online so far, with many others donating cash. Writing on his Facebook page, Mr Ginniver, of Blaenau Ffestiniog, said Mili had given him the “best six months” of his life and it was a “privilege” to be her dad. He said: “You wake up in morning and you kiss them all goodbye and tell them you love them, then you go to work and all of a sudden your whole world is torn apart.” Mr Ginniver added that Anna, from Penrhyndeudraeth, was “like a sister” to him.
