Wright helps U18s collar Bulldogsg and extend their unbeaten run

CAERNARFON Celts Under16s and U18s experience­d mixed fortunes in the North Wales Junior League last week.

The U16s played Mold Magic who were looking to avenge a narrow defeat to Celts at the beginning of the season.

Celts started well, taking the first half 28 points to Magic’s 24.

The third quarter was a different prospect, Magic turning the screw on the Celts offence and keeping them to a single-figure score of seven points while adding 16 to their own tally.

With a similar d defensive st strategy paying d dividends for Magic in the final quarter, the Celts fe fell to a 54-41 defeat. Topscorer with 18 points and MVP fo for Celts was S Sean Jones.

Caernarfon’s U18s were up against B Bromboroug­h Bulldogs looking to maintain their undefeated run in the league this season.

Two magnificen­t quarters of attacking basketball – accumulati­ng 41 points – did much to ensure Celts ran out 73-36 victors.

Celts MVP was Jacob Wright (21pts) and top-scorer was Llifon Torr with 23.

Celts senior side were dealt a heavy blow before hosting the Wrexham Warriors at the Brailsford Centre, with 6’4” centre Dale Stalman out injured and Wales U23’s shooting guard Niall Williams missing with a fractured wrist.

Despite the absence of such influentia­l players, Celts competed well only to end up 59-44 losers. MVP was Llifon Torr and top-scorer Jacob Wright with 16 points.

Next up for Celts Seniors will be the first leg of the North Wales Cup semi-final away to Deeside Dragons tonight (Wednesday).
