Small firms celebratin­g successes

NORTH Wales-based businesses led the pack in a number of categories at the FSB Celebratin­g Small Business Awards in Cardiff this week.

Businesses from across North Wales were finalists and winners at the awards, demonstrat­ing the breadth of talent and innovation.

The North Wales-based winners were: ● Micro Business of the Year – Semantise, Gwynedd ● Start-up Business of the Year – Ateb Cymru, Gwynedd ● Business and Product Innovation Award – The Financial Game, Wrexham. ● Business Exporter of the Year – Net World Sports, Wrexham. ● Young Entreprene­ur of the Year – Oliver Thomas, Yiver – Conwy

All now go on to compete against winners from across the UK at the final of the FSB Awards in London.

Oggy East, director of Semantise Ltd, said: “The whole team are delighted with this award. We’ve big plans to deliver the benefits of the software to other sectors and recognitio­n from the FSB makes us even more motivated. This just goes to show that you don’t need to be a big company to make a big impact.”

Janet Jones, FSB Wales Policy Unit Chair, said: “Congratula­tions to all of this year’s winners.

“They are reflective of the vibrancy, innovation and tenacity that makes up our small business community.

“It’s been thrilling to see so many of North Wales’ businesses enthusiast­ically take part in our awards.

“The sheer scale and diversity of those who entered is a testimony to the vitality of the small business community in North Wales.”
